At Gamefisherman, we’re proud to introduce a line of outboard-powered center consoles based on our classic hulls. We have built our share of big outboard powered boats, primarily as walkarounds up to 50 feet. But we have always remained true to our DNA. As inboard offshore sportfishermen go, our boats would be considered narrow, a major reason our boats have a reputation for nimbleness and maneuverability. However, we are still significantly beamier than a typical outboard center console.
These new boats—hull No. 001 will be a 30-foot model, followed shortly by our 36- and 43-foot models—will be outfitted with Armstrong brackets and the buyer’s choice of outboard power, and their roots trace directly back to our most legendary boats on the water. These include Fins ‘N Feather’s Magic, the first boat to release 2,000 billfish in a year: Mike Sheeder’s Intensity, with over 60,000 billfish released; Brad Phillips’ Decisive, the first boat to release 3,000 billfish in a year: Stewart Campbell’s Chunda and Nick Smith’s Old Reliable. From Madeira to Mag Bay, these Gamefisherman boats have made history, becoming some of the most prolific boats in the world.
These new Gamefisherman Center Console models represent the next generation of these famed boats. Our bottom shape, designed by Naval Architect and Engineer Erwin Gerards, is rather unique. Typical outboards have more deadrise to take the abuse of jumping waves.
Due to the propulsion being located all the way aft, outboards tend to run better with only the aft part of the hull length in the water. Our models run exceptionally well with outboards. While they will not compete in speed with some other existing center consoles, our hulls handle extremely well and are far more comfortable than any other outboard out there. And when pulled back to 30 kts, they are exceptionally fuel efficient and quiet!
The market discovered long ago how practical a center-console boat is in terms of its utility and generally lower maintenance requirements. Consumer demand and outboard engine development will continue to drive future innovation. While supersize center consoles are by no means simple machines, they are undoubtedly less complex than multi-stateroom sport-fishing yachts. This typically translates to lower maintenance bills and less time in the yard and gives owners the ability to run and maintain their own vessel.
And of course, the all-new Gamefisherman Center Consoles will feature the same classic, strikingly beautiful lines that made previous Gamefisherman boats the envy of fishermen worldwide. They will be game changers, unlike anything else on the market. Take a ride on one and see for yourself, but a word of caution; production will be quite limited so when you decide to join the elite group of owners of the best center consoles available, get your order in soon. They’re going to go quickly!
See you on the water,
Jim Turner
