The Sailfish Club of Florida hosted its 49th Annual Gold Cup Invitational Team Fishing Tournament January 12-16, 2021. Chairman Christopher Lazzara led this year’s tournament.
The Gold Cup was founded in 1972 by John Rybovich to test the skills of anglers catching and releasing sailfish off the east coast of Florida, and is an exclusive invitational tournament reserved for big-game saltwater anglers. The Gold Cup is a perpetual trophy maintained by the Sailfish Club of Florida on Palm Beach Island, and is one of the most coveted prizes in competitive sportfishing.
We are proud that two Gamefisherman teams rose to the occasion and represented us well on the leaderboard! The bite off Palm Beach was anything but hot last week, and 40’ Gamefisherman MISS TEXAS still released 11 sailfish on dead bait for a score of 3300 points to secure the 3rd place spot, as well as a daily. 50’ Gamefisherman CORAL C followed close in 4th place! Way to go #TeamGamefisherman!
